About the role

We are seeking an experienced Research Engineer to join our team and lead the technical development of our large language models (LLMs) initiatives, with the goal of building a reliable and advanced AI poker coach, interfacing via natural language. This role will focus on the research, design, and deployment of state-of-the-art models that push the boundaries of Explainable AI, with a strong emphasis on reliability and correctness.  A strong theoretical and practical background in machine learning is essential, and a passion for poker and building educational tools is a big plus. If you are passionate about pushing beyond the state-of-the-art and solving complex problems, this role is for you.

In this role you will: 

  • Design, build, train, and optimize large language models (LLMs)

  • Develop strategies for data collection, curation, and augmentation to improve model performance and robustness

  • Collaborate with world-class researchers, engineers, product managers and poker experts to bring research ideas to production

  • Act as a technical expert for other researchers and engineers

  • Create prototypes targeting practical adoption in GTO Wizard

  • Keep up-to-date with the latest research and development in the field by constantly reviewing scientific literature

What you bring to GTO Wizard:

  • PhD degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Theoretical research experience with a successful track record of delivering quality results or academic publications in top machine learning venues

  • Strong understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs)

  • Extensive expertise in machine learning

  • Exceptional communication, cross discipline collaboration and leadership skills

  • Passion for games and how intelligent systems can teach humans problem solving skills
